Mitologia
Ireo è descritto come figlio del dio mwggPoseidone e della mwgwpleiade mwhaAlcione, e quindi fratello di Iperenore e Etusa. Con la ninfa mwhqClonia, fu il padre di mwhgNitteo e mwhwLico, che divennero re di mwiaTebe. Altri autori gli assegnano altri figli, tra cui mwiqOrionecite-ref-4[4] e Criacocite-ref-5[5].
